A Glimpse of The Strangers at WonderCon [EXCLUSIVE]

It was only a few days ago that The Strangers made a chilling appearance at WonderCon 2024 to promote the upcoming The Strangers: Chapter 1. Well thanks to the actors under the masks for the event, I have some fun close-up snaps to share with you at the event — including a look at screen-used costumes and stunt double masks from the trilogy.
A promotional photo from WonderCon featuring individuals wearing masks resembling those from 'The Strangers: Chapter 1'. Three are donning masks with vintage doll-like faces, with expressions ranging from neutral to smiling, and the central figure sports a burlap-like mask with eyeholes, clutching an axe, adding a chilling effect. The background has the convention's branding, indicating a special event or exclusive content. Additional close-ups of the masked individuals are superimposed on the main image, suggesting a themed group or cast from the movie.
Three lucky actors were hired to play The Strangers all weekend during WonderCon, appearing during the Q&A panel, in photo-ops with the cast, and at the booth set up where fans could come and have photos. I recently got in contact with them and they were all kind enough to send me some photos of the event — photos you won’t see anywhere else, including special close ups of the Strangers masks and their costumes which were actually used on-set during production of the trilogy.
As a bonus, the man who played Scarecrow (formerly known as The Man in the Mask) is also a horror fan, and like me was interested in all the different pieces that made up Scarecrow’s costume, a look that he has always wanted to portray “since the original film“, and so getting the chance to dress as him to promote the upcoming film “was an honor“. He was able to send me some up close and personal shots of the jacket, shirt and t-shirt worn by Scarecrow in the film. All of his costumes, and presumably the girls’ as well, were “actual clothing from the movie“. The mask was not the original mask, but a mask worn I believe by a stunt double is how I interpreted it. You can tell as it looks not as well designed as the hero mask seen on the posters and in the film.
Unfortunately, it seems the pants and boots from the film may have been destroyed, as the actors were all asked to wear their own to fit the vibe. This also adds up with the discrepancies I’ve noticed between the promotional photos released from the different U.S. cities, that the pants and boots never remained consistent as different actors were likely chosen in different cities so brought their own wardrobe to complete the ensemble. Nonetheless, it’s great being able to get an up close and personal look at the new looks for the Strangers, and get a fun behind the scenes at the promotional campaign. All photos they were able to provide me with are below.
