Has 'The Strangers: Chapter 2' been delayed?

Although we were hoping it wasn’t the case, it seems we now have to accept the inevitable that The Strangers: Chapter 2 has been delayed from its Fall 2024 release date.
At CinemaCon 2024, producer Courtney Solomon confirmed that the wait between the three chapters of The Strangers Trilogy wouldn’t be long, with the release date for Chapter 2 panned for somewhere within the “Fall of 2024” period (September-November). Ideally, that would’ve meant we’d have seen a trailer somewhere in July-August of this year if they were aiming for a close to Halloween release. However, as eager fans have waited and waited ever since the release of The Strangers: Chapter 1, no trailer or marketing has come our way. The social media accounts for The Strangers have been silent, no updates have been given other than from Madelaine Petsch who confirmed the rumours of reshoots in a TikTok video she posted.
Yes, the reshoot rumours were true. A couple of sources contacted me to give me some information. One, who I can’t guarantee the validity of, gave me quite a bit of information that I won’t share until after the films release so I can confirm whether they’re true. The second source who I know is valid, told me that when the original shoot in 2022 wrapped up, Chapter 3 wasn’t completely finished so the reshoots didn’t surprise them. Another source close to production told me the reshoots weren’t expected to cause many delays and were happening as Lionsgate were impressed with the reception and box office figures that Chapter 1 released, but a distributor of the film has seemingly confirmed that Chapter 2 is officially delayed until 2025.
Kismet Movies is the official distributor of The Strangers films in Australia and New Zealand, and recently on their Instagram account they re-posted a birthday post for Madelaine Petsch that was posted on the official Strangers account. Attached to that was the sentence “The Strangers: Chapter 2 in Australia and NZ cinemas 2025”. Now, normally I would assume that Australia is just getting a delayed release to other countries as in the last few years its gone backwards in that Australia has had to wait months for horror releases like Pearl which was released for almost six months before it came to cinemas here.

However, in the case of the Strangers, Australia actually received it two days earlier than the US, which is why I’m inclined to believe that their release schedules are on point with each other. That, and all the added factors like the reshoots, lack of marketing, lack of a trailer, silence on the Lionsgate front, I think it’s safe to say that, unfortunately, The Strangers: Chapter 2 is delayed until next year.
It’s disappointing news for sure, but we can only hope that this means Lionsgate is cooking up something extra special as they tie in the new pieces from the reshoots into the story. Rest assured, I’ll keep everyone posted as new information about Chapter 2 and Chapter 3 is released. In the meantime, you can buy Chapter 1 on DVD and on Digital today!
