The Strangers: Chapter 2 - Character Guide

Published by: IsTamaraHome.net
Date Published: 29 September 2025
The Strangers: Chapter 2 re-introduced us to the residents of Venus, Oregon, and introduced us to some new ones we hadn’t yet met. Let’s take a look at who appeared in the second chapter.
Maya (Madelaine Petsch) hides from the masked stranger, Scarecrow, in The Strangers: Chapter 2 (2025)

Maya Lucas

Played by Madelaine Petsch

Maya Lucas, the returning protagonist from Chapter 1. We meet Maya moments after the ending of Chapter 1 where she is being assessed in the Venus County Hospital. After being brushed off by the police, Maya’s attempts to await transport to Portland are interrupted by the arrival of the Strangers who know she is still alive. Maya escapes the hospital and finds herself stranded in the woods of Venus, avoiding anyone and everyone whilst keeping on the move so the Strangers can’t catch up to her. By the end of the movie, Maya has killed a wild boar, stitched up her own wounds, watched six people die by the hands of the Strangers, and killed one of her attackers.

Pin-Up Girl, Scarecrow, and Dollface

Played by Ema Horvath, Matus Lajcak, and Olivia Kreutzova
Olivia Kretuzova (Dollface), Matus Lajcak (Scarecrow), and Ema Horvath (Pin-Up Girl)
The trio of returning antagonists from Chapter 1. After discovering Maya is still alive, the trio set out to kill her in the hospital. When Maya evades them, they begin a relentless pursuit through the woods of Venus. In their bid to kill her, they go as far to release a wild boar to do the job for them. By the end of the film, the trio have dropped down to a duo after Maya successfully kills Pin-Up Girl, who is unmasked as Shelly Barnes, the waitress from Carol’s Diner. Throughout the film, they killed a total of six people during their pursuit of Maya.

When we catch up with Shelly, she is still waitressing at Carol’s Diner where she overhears that Maya survived her attack, which triggers a flashback in her head to when she befriended Scarecrow as a child and the pair killed another student, Tamara, after Shelly grew jealous of her. Shelly joins forces again with Scarecrow and Dollface to track Maya down and finish her off. By the end of the film, Shelly unsuccessfully attempted to kill Maya in an ambulance. After Maya stabbed her and then crashed the ambulance, Shelly was thrown from the vehicle and killed.

Gregory

Played by Gabriel Basso
Gregory played by Gabriel Basso in The Strangers: Chapter 2 (2025)
Gabriel Basso (Gregory)
Gregory is a longterm resident of Venus. When his grandparents passed, they left him a large sum of money and a sailboat. All he has left is the sailboat. Gregory is an unhappy alcoholic, for reasons not yet known, and has a smiley face tattoo on his neck that he allegedly got on a school church trip. Gregory owns a fairly large, and nice, home on the outskirts of Venus. He is roommates with Wayne, Nurse Danica, and Chris Sampson. When Maya show up on his doorstep, Gregory is keen to know how being stabbed felt like, towards the end, Maya seemingly starts to believe that he may be one of her attackers.

Sheriff Howard Rotter and Deputy Tommy Walters

Played by Richard Brake and Pedro Leandro
Venus’ finest, or so they like people to think. Despite taking Maya’s statement and being aware of the towns history, they fail to properly investigate, even ignoring when they find The Strangers truck parked in a trailer park. Although Tommy wants to get the state or federal police involved, Howard is against contacting them as to avoid them uncovering the secrets they’ve been hiding.

Nurse Danica, Chris Sampson, and Wayne

Played by Brooke Lena Johnson, Chris Sampson, and Milo Callaghan
Madelaine Petsch, Florian Clare, Brooke Lena Johnson, Milo Callaghan, and Gabriel Basso in The Strangers: Chapter 2
Florian Clare (Chris Sampson), Nurse Danica (Brooke Lena Johnson), and Milo Callaghan (Wayne)
Danica is a nurse at Venus County Hospital and Chris Sampson is a former US soldier, having served for three years (not that it helped her in the end). Initially I believed the pair were sisters, however after speaking with Florian Clare, the actress who plays Chris, they confirmed that Danica and Chris are in-fact a couple (or were). Wayne’s occupation is unknown. The trio were roommates of Gregory and live at his home on the outskirts of Venus. They took in Maya when she shows up on their doorstep and attempt to help her and keep her safe. By the end of the film, the trio were all killed off by Dollface and Pin-Up Girl.

Doctor Tate

Played by JR Esposito
Dr. Tate is seen completely off screen, a brief glimpse shown as he performs tests on Maya. Ultimately, he is an unseen character who is only on screen for a few seconds. I believe he will be appearing in Chapter 3 as well.

Annie and Carol

Played by Sara Freedland and Janis Ahern
Janis owns her diner and Annie is one of her waitresses. They are only seen in brief scenes at the diner where they quiz the Sheriff about who was responsible for the murder and attempted murder of Ryan and Maya. They are not seen outside of the diner scenes.

Dougie, Neil, and Rudy

Played by Stevee Davies, Pablo Sandstrom, and Ben Cartwright
More Venus locals who are seen briefly in scenes in the diner. Dougie and Rudy are mechanics at Rudy’s garage, and Neil is a local who is married to Eden (played by Rafaella Biscayn who does not appear in this chapter). Like Annie and Carol, they are only seen in very brief scenes.

Jasmine

Played by Ella Bruccoleri
Richard Brake, Ella Bruccoleri, and Pedro Leandro in The Strangers: Chapter 2
Richard Brake (Sheriff Rotter), Ella Bruccoleri (Jasmine), and Pedro Leandro (Deputy Walters)
One of the new characters we first meet in Chapter 2. According to her character poster, she is the town hairdresser. She appears in a couple of brief scenes in the diner, attempting to turn suspicion on Maya as the murderer of Ryan.

Debbie Lucas

Played by Rachel Shenton
Debbie is the sister of Maya who was previously seen on a FaceTime call in Chapter 1. Debbie does not appear physically in Chapter 2 as she is stuck at Heathrow Airport waiting for a flight to Oregon. She and her husband, Howard, arrange for a private EMT to pickup Maya in Venus and transport her to Oregon. The last we hear of Debbie, she is landing in Portland, so it’s possible we may see her finally arrive in Venus in Chapter 3.

Shar (Farmer Woman), The Orderly, and Billy Bufford

Played by Lily Knight, Vincent Zaninovich, and Joplin Sibtain
Very minor characters who only appear on screen for a few seconds before being killed off by The Strangers. The Orderly crosses paths with Scarecrow in the morgue and is killed to keep him quiet. Shar is the owner of a horse farm who Maya approaches for help, but as she tries to warn Maya about the sheriff, Pin-Up Girl kills her with a crossbow. Billy Bufford is from the Oregon State Police and was investigating the unsolved murders in Venus. When he attempts to help Maya to escape Venus, Pin-Up Girl kills him with a crossbow.

Ryan Perez

Played by Froy Gutierrez
Froy Gutierrez as Ryan Perez in The Strangers: Chapter 2
Ryan appears in a few brief scenes. He first appears in a flashback to an unseen scene from Chapter 1 where he sits with Maya as she plays the piano. In the next scene, he appears as a vision to Maya in her hospital bed before turning into Scarecrow which breaks her out of her nightmare. In his final scene, Maya is hiding in the box in the morgue that is housing his dead body.

EMT Driver

Played by Brian Law
The EMT Driver is hired by Debbie and Howard to transport Maya from Venus to Portland where she will meet them. As he arrives in Venus, he fills up gas at Rudy’s garage where he rubs Rudy the wrong way when he reveals he’s in town to pickup Maya. At some point offscreen, he is killed by Pin-Up Girl after he arrives at Gregory’s house.

Young Shelly, Young Scarecrow, and Young Tamara

Played by Nola Wallace, Jake Cogman, and Pippa Blaylock
Nola Wallace as Young Pin-Up Girl / Shelly in The Strangers: Chapter 2 (2025)
Nola Wallace plays Young Shelly / Pin-Up Girl
The youngsters are seen through flashbacks to their childhood. The trio all attended the same Christian Living school together. Shelly had a crush on Scarecrow and the two would play together and torment small boars. When Scarecrow receives attention from Tamara, Shelly grows jealous and begins developing psychopathic tendencies, such as killing rats. When Shelly reaches breaking point, she attacks and kills Tamara with a rock. Following the murder, she sits by the body with Scarecrow who draws a smiley face and the two hold hands and smile as the teachers discover what they did.
