The Strangers: Chapter 2 gets first Teaser

The second instalment in Renny Harlin’s “The Strangers Trilogy”, The Strangers: Chapter 2 has been given its first update, in the form of a teaser trailer, putting an end to the fans misery. Let’s break it down and see what happened.

Luckily for me this teaser came at a much more suitable time as it wasn’t leaked online, although I was late to the party by an hour when it came to seeing it, but that didn’t leave me any less excited to start pulling it apart. Unfortunately this teaser didn’t come with a release date just yet, and only said “Coming Soon”, but we know it’ll be here sometime in 2025, as the title on YouTube confirms.
The teaser begs the question, how do you trust someone when everyone is a stranger? And we’re catching up with Maya not too long after her attack where she is now in the Venus hospital recovering, but the Strangers know she’s still alive and their reign of terror is far from over.
The town of Venus seem to be reacting to the news of the attack in different ways, but it seems they’ve all been here before. The teaser also seems to set a religious theme, a sermon playing over the town radio to the tune of a church organ as we witness Maya struggling with the loss of Ryan and not knowing who she can trust. And I’m excited to see how the filmmakers are going to tackle exploring the aftermath of an event so traumatic like this.
In the original two films, we were never really able to explore the aftermath of Kristen and Kinsey, how they moved forward following the attack? So it’s great to be seeing the franchise take a step in a different direction. It seems Maya will have a lot of trust issues, she’s on her own in a town full of Strangers, and she doesn’t know which three of them are the ones who still want her dead.
We also get our first glimpse of Gabriel Basso as Gregory, but is he hiding a deeper, darker, secret?
No release date has been set yet, but I’m excited that the marketing has finally kicked off. I know Lionsgate have some great plans ahead of them leading to the release of Chapter 2!
