Madelaine Petsch talks The Strangers Trilogy

Madelaine Petsch recently completed an interview with Entertainment Tonight where she talked about the loss of Aaron Carter. Towards the end of the interview the interviewer managed to get in a small discussion about the upcoming “The Strangers” trilogy, where she confirmed some of what we knew and some of what we were speculating.

First thing’s first, Madeleine confirmed a fact that we already believed was true, but can now confirm that it’s definite. All three films in the trilogy have been completed.

“So we shot all three already. They’re in the can”.

There wasn’t a lot that Madelaine was allowed to share about the films but when asked about it’s similarities with the original, Madeleine stated:

“It’s more bone chilling than the original because what we really wanted to do with the three was make it so that people all on the ride were thinking the exact same thing you thought”


In regards to what she meant, the interviewer was referring to the original film where Liv Tyler and Scott Speedman do everything right to try and get away and still end up losing at the end of the film.
Madelaine continued by stating that the new trilogy would be just like the original film “times 1000”, and that “it’s a wild ride”. Madelaine also stated that the new trilogy would follow a similar formula to the original two films, but there would be some differences including some backstory to The Strangers and why they are doing what they are doing.

“There’s a bit more of a backstory as to why it’s happening too which I think people will really like especially OG fans”


Madeleine went on to say that unlike the original two films where the ending sees Liv Tyler possibly still be alive, the new film will have a continuous story throughout the entire trilogy, with her and Froy Gutierrez’s character carrying along through all three.

“There’s a bit more of a backstory as to why it’s happening too which I think people will really like especially OG fans. It’s a new concept but it’s kinda a remake of the original and then two additional continuous stories”


And in the final moments of the interview, Madeleine confirmed a fact that we’d already confirmed a few months ago. Her character’s name is in fact Maya.

“By the end I hope that you are all absolutely rooting for Maya”

That was all Madeleine was able to get in before the interview came to an end after she had said all she could.
