'The Strangers: Chapter 1' coming May 17th, 2024

A new teaser released tonight has revealed that the first instalment of The Strangers Trilogy is coming May 17th, 2024.

After a few months of silence, Lionsgate has finally kicked the marketing for The Strangers: Chapter 1 into second gear with the announcement of the release date of the film and a second sneak peek shared exclusively by Madelaine Petsch.

Along with the teaser image (which closely resembles original promotional art from The Strangers), came a sneak peek of Madelaine’s character, Maya, hiding in a closet from someone, presumably a Stranger, who is trying to get into the closet. Before we see what happens we cut to black where the release date is shown: May 17, 2024.

That’s right, The Strangers: Chapter 1 is getting a pre-summer release. The first chapter is set to be a close recreation of the original film, with the second and third instalments, Chapter 2 and 3, coming at a later date. Whether they all be in 2024, or in subsequent years.

The first chapter follows Madelaine Petsch, who stars as a young woman on a road trip with her fiancé (Froy Gutierrez). But when they stop at a remote vacation rental in the woods, they become the prey of a vicious gang of masked strangers who attack without warning or reason, and must use courage and cunning to survive one long, terrifying night.

The trilogy was directed by Renny Harlin over three months in Bratislava in 2022, and also stars Ema Horvath, Gabriel Basso, Rachel Shenton and a slew of amazing supporting cast members!
